Biography
New Hampshire artist David Zerba’s paintings of barn shapes and other New England structures represent a familiar take on Folk Art with their combination of bright and muted colors, coupled with a flattened composition. David’s use of a sophisticated palette and his strong feel for the shape and texture of this specific architecture however reach beyond the naïveté’ that characterizes most Folk Art. A graphics designer with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Tufts Univiersity, Zerba paints and resides in Provincetown / Boston MA, and New Hampshire.
“My work is influenced by my background in graphic design, particularly poster, packaging and cover design,” he says. “Idepict existing and imaginary structures in a minimal format with shape, color and texture.”
