Biography

Max Reff received his BA in Studio Art from SUNY Stony Brook, followed by his MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. He has worked in several galleries between New York and Philadelphia, including the Paul W. Zuccaire Gallery, Gallery North, and the PAFA Museum. He is currently located in Portsmouth, NH where he resides and works. Max has been exhibiting for years in major cities through galleries and art fairs, and has works held in multiple private and public collections.
His work ranges through many mediums, often mixed together in abstract ways that amplify their significances or materiality. These include ceramics, wood, plaster, metal, found objects, drawing, painting, and more. The themes of his work range from topics dealing with personal mental health to issues surrounding urban society and infrastructure.
