Jane O'Connell of Durham, New Hampshire began painting while completing her Master's degree at Syracuse University. A long time New Hampshire resident, she has been working exclusively in watercolors for more than thirty years. She is a member of the New Hampshire Art Association, and has participated in one person and group shows throughout her career. She has chosen to work in watercolors because she appreciates the transparency, spontaneity, and clarity unique to the medium. The vibrancy and iridescence of flowers, and the patterns of light and shadow in landscapes, are the focus of much of her work. Some of her recent work includes paintings from travels to Mexico, Barbados, Italy and France. Summer is her favorite season, and the one she prefers to paint!
