“Seacoast Summer: A Painters Response to Light” by Lydia Meade

During the month of August Kennedy Gallery will present original paintings of the Seacoast by local artist Lydia Meade.  Inspired by the effects of atmosphere and light on color, Lydia’s paintings reflect an emotional response that gives her the passion and energy to create.  She hopes to convey that emotion through her art.  Lydia says, “If the light doesn’t move me, I don’t paint. Otherwise the painting is just a pretty picture instead of a shared experience with the viewer.”

Many of Lydia’s paintings are done “en plein air” and are often completed ” alla prima”.  She is drawn to water and its ever-changing environment, always revealing something new to explore.  Living near the beach enables her to walk it often, finding a never-ending bounty of inspiration in our beautiful New England coastline.
