Favorite Places :The Serigraphs of William Mitchell

Throughout the month of June, Kennedy Gallery will present the serigraphs of New Hampshire artist William Mitchell.  An award winning printmaker from Dover, New Hampshire, William is a listed artist in Who’s Who in America and has work in many private and corportate collections.

An avid hiker and skier, William has a strong affinity for New Hampshire’s lakes, rivers, and mountains.  Through his hand-made serigraph ( silkscreen ) prints he depicts the beauty of New Hampshire in a way that makes each place seem both familiar and brand new.  Often beginning his prints as painted “sketches”, the end result is a serigraph that retains the hand of a skilled painter, with flowing lines and striking use of color.  There is nothing tentative or hesitant about William’s work.  Through the combination of his painter’s hand and his vivid palette, William is able to put to paper the joy and reverence he feels for the New Hampshire landscape.
William writes:  “The beauty of New Hampshire continually moves me.  Many people feel a personal connection with my prints because they depict some of their favorite places. ”  Drawing inspiration from these vistas, William hopes they will be protected now and forever for all to enjoy.

Please join us for an Opening Reception to meet William and view his work on Friday, June 2, from 5-8 pm in conjunction with the monthly Art Round Town Gallery Walk.
